Swami Vivekananda Memorial College Autonomous is a glorious institution grows on the bed of the river Alaka at Jagatsinghpur in a calm, secluded & ideal site. Its campus charms, aesthetic and spiritual appeal really becomes suitable for the healthy growth of an institution of higher learning. The river Alaka encircling the college on the north and east, though virtually dead now occasionally flows and reminds us of the past maritime glory and the trading centre of the Dutch sailors during the Pre-British period. Jagatsinghpur, with its large galaxy of intellectuals spread out all over the state and outside is proud of having an institution of higher learning named after Swami Vivekananda.

The OPEN BOOK with the inscriptions depicts devotion to learning and spread of education.

The SHIP on the high water symbolises the past maritime glory of Jagatsirighpur and trade in the river Alaka on the bed of which the College is situated.

The LAMP stands for the light of learning that dispels ignorance and opens up opportunities for the eternal quest for Knowledge and Truth.

The LEAFY STALK represents the rural scenery surrounding the college and at the bottom occur the lines from the Upanisada :

Utisthata, Jagrata Prapya, Barannibodhata

(Arise, Awake and Stop not till the goal is reached).
